In this study, we observed the assembly work for an air operated control valve actuator and we evaluated experiments to determine what is the impact on the performance of the workers using two types of written procedures, that is, visual (with many diagrams and photos) and conventional (mainly written text). The results were evaluated from three perspectives, awkwardness, slowness and over-anxiousness, and we found that there were improvements in the performance of the workers when using the visual-type written procedures, compared to the conventional-type. Further, by checking and extracting the problems hidden in the written procedures by using the GAP-type PSF list proposed in this study, we identified possible improvements for the visual-type written procedures.
