This study presents the visual inspection method that uses peripheral vision field. The effect of colors of defect and background on the defect detection is inspected in peripheral visual field. In the experiment, colors of defect and background, the luminance contrast of defect and the location of the defect are considered as the variation factors, and their effect on the defect detection rate is evaluated. As a result of the experiment, it is obtained that the difference in the color of defect and background affect the defect detection in peripheral visual field. However, this effect varies according to the luminance contrast of the defect. Specifically, the difference yellow-blue component of the defect between the defect and the background affect the defect detection rate regardless of the luminance contrast. On the other hand, the difference of red-green component does not affect the defect detection rate.
