    The purpose of this paper is to clarify the patterns of ethnic identity and acculturation among the 3rd generation of returnee from China in Japan from the viewpoint of segmented assimilation theory. The results of the analysis, the three types of ethnic identity are found; Meritocracy, Hybrid, and Chinese Culture-Oriented. According to segmented assimilation theory, these types are affected by family structure, modes of incorporation, and ethnic community. In this paper it’s found that the modes of incorporation have a strong effect on acculturation and ethnic identity among the 3rd generation of returnee from China, especially the acceptance in Japanese school and its experience, acquisition of culturally tolerant peer group, and keeping a distance from the ethnic community.

    It is effective to divide the sequence of events for vocational training instructor candidates and so on to understand history of a law related to the vocational ability. A concept of self-help co-aid public-assistance is taken up, and it's separated by whether it was the dominant of the three concepts. In the texts and composition of the law, it inclined toward public-assistance until a legal revision in 1985, but co-aid became superior around that time. And the weight of self-help increased by a legal revision in 2007, and it is interpreted a balance of 3 concepts was planned for. It is certain that the amendment in 1985 and 2007 is an epoch legally but it is also necessary to pay attention these changes are somewhat continuous. In addition, consideration is given to the relationship between these categories and the internal labor market and external labor market.

    This research clarifies the relevance between qualifying technical education courses and career experiences in colleges, and the development of key vocational abilities and vocational values by students. This study was originally implemented as one part of the surveys within the framework of Prof. Terada’s research project. The analysis was made from longitudinal data (N=83) from students at two Polytechnic Colleges, based on responses in 2013 (freshmen) and 2016 (seniors). Many students had received vocational certificates before entering college, but the tendency had been reinforced since the first year in college. This influences the development of vocational key skills or vocational values. These situations were shown through factor analysis of variables for skills and values, analysis of variances on factor scales, and some career experience variables.

    Much more, in Japan, low birthrate and longevity will progress from now on. Many activities in the human- resources development in a school, or a human resources development facility and a company will change still more. The influence on the upper secondary education which the Extraordinary Council for Education reply gave is verified, and the state of the after education of the secondary education is considered in this paper. And the future directivity of the human resources development is suggested by having a new appreciation of the importance of the general education used as the foundation of the human resources development and the liberal arts and sciences which its brews.

    This study aimed to examine clinical supervision practices in vocational rehabilitation settings. Interviews with 8 vocational rehabilitation service providers were conducted. Qualitative data analysis was performed, and the following practices were identified: “Educational Function,” ”Supportive Function,” and ”Managerial Function.” Since clinical supervision practices in vocational rehabilitation settings have not been developed sufficiently in Japan, inadequate technical advice and mental health may exist. Implications include verifying evidence-based practice in vocational rehabilitation as the base for supervision practices, developing effective support techniques, and developing supervisory training programs.

    Human senses and manufacturing experiences are important in the skills competition. This research is an exploratory study on the clarification of the skills improvement mechanism of skills competition players from the viewpoint of What is required for skills competition winners?. In this paper, we describe the hypothesis concept of skills acquisition of the players and the development method of questionnaires. In the future work, we will analyze the data and formulation of manufacturing skills.

    This investigation explored the characteristics of Ecological Cognitive Load (ECL) and multi-dimensional conducting skills (MCS) which highly expertized worker have. Questionnaire survey was conducted to competitors who belonged to informational field, and participated in 55th world skills Japan. Intensity of ECL and usage of MCS were compared in three groups assigned by competition result. Analysis shows that high result competitors have high usage of MCS, including such strategies as effective information inputting, and speed accuracy handling. MCS has hierarchal structure. The hierarchal conducting skills training was suggested.

    In general, austenitic stainless steel (309 series) with high Cr and Ni contents is used as a filler metal for welding dissimilar mild steel and stainless steel. The reason is to prevent the reduction of Cr and Ni at the weld, and prevent the part from hardening further. However, this filler metal is expensive. In this study, the most common and inexpensive filler metal for mild steel was applied for welding dissimilar mild steel and austenitic stainless steel to a thin plate. We carried out hardness testing, tensile testing, and bend testing on the joint, and compared the results with those of the 309 series filler metal. The welding methods applied were gas metal arc welding, shielded metal arc welding, and gas tungsten arc welding. The results show no problem with practical application even if the filler metal for mild steel was applied.

    The safety system is recently developing using microcontroller and sensing, such as the safety mode of the numerical control (NC) for machining center, the light curtain for press machine etc. However, the manual control device/tool cannot be developed, because integrating the sensor or the microcontroller is difficult. In this paper, we suggest the booting system for necessary safety check using AR (Augmented Reality) technology. First, the safety check process is constructed as a reference of PDCA using programing. After that, we confirm the validity of the system for safety check using AR technology, the safety check function of the machine tool and switches is investigated by some workers. The machine tool and many switches are equipped with AR markers, and the workers have the USB camera on head side. Therefore, the switches are measured correctly, and the workers can check the safety using USB camera and AR technology.

    In order to quantitatively grasp influence of asymmetry of channel, flow in an eccentric sudden expansion channel in which the channel centers are different on upstream side and downstream side was calculated in Re < 200, where expansion rate was E = 3. The asymmetry of a channel is expressed by an eccentricity B, where a symmetric expansion channel is B = 0 and a channel with one side step is B = 1. Multiple solutions are confirmed in B < 0.35. The critical Reynolds number increases with parabola with respect to eccentricity. Entrance length increases to about 1% according to eccentricity. The reattachment point distance decreases linearly on the short side of a wall of a sudden expansion part and is almost equal except for B = 0 on the long side. The pressure loss coefficient increases due to asymmetry and rapidly as approaching B = 1.

    Visible-light communication systems are suitable to realize secure indoor networks. In this paper, a visible-light CDM experimental system developed by the authors with an FPGA and white LEDs is reported. The developed system adopts EWO signaling scheme as an MUI canceller. The signature codes can be selected from MPSCs and inverted MPSCs with a code length of 16. It has five channels on each of which 31.25kHz MIDI data spread with a code sequence is transmitted. The experimental system has five LEDs to transmit coded sequences with a chip rate of 500kcps. Multiplexed optical signal sequence is received by the receiver and decoded by each of five EWO decoders. It has been shown that the average light intensity of the system employing an inverted MPSC with a length of q^2 is, theoretically, q-1 times as high as that of the system employing a non-inverted MPSC with the same length. It is shown that experimental results about light intensity obtained with the developed system agree well with the theoretical results.

    In this research, a low-energy secondary emission electron gun using wire ion plasma source was developed. The characteristics of secondary electron beam were investigated in order to achieve main objective, which is to realize the sterilization using pulsed electron beams. The electron dose per unit time was also observed by film-type dosimeter, and it was confirmed to increase at the higher repetition rate. The sterilization experiments were conducted using bacteria called Bacilus pumilus which is the biological indicator of radiation sterilization. It is found that the inactivation effect is intensified by increasing the repetition rate of the electron beam irradiation. Furthermore, morphological damage to the bacteria is observed by Field Emission-Scanning Electron Microscope. It is observed that the damage are caused by radial effects that it is attributed to electron beam irradiation.

    This paper studies evaluation of visual quality of office spaces by evaluation grid method. The Kano Model for quality elements are introduced and visual quality of office spaces are defined based on this model. Interviews to 20 students are performed by showing pictures of office spaces and asking which pictures and why they prefer. 10 of them major in architecture and the others don’t. As a result, evaluation structure charts are established and evaluated for office spaces. Attractive quality, one-dimensional quality and must-be quality of office spaces for university students are presented by analyzing the evaluation structure charts. A check list for visual quality of office spaces is introduced to maintain the visual environments.

    This article discusses who has more social skills at Polytechnic Colleges in Japan. With data of questionnaire survey towards two Polytechnic College in Japan (n=607), the relation among trainees’ motivation, attitudes toward training, and skill-acquisition is analysed. By three-way cross tabulations and chi-square tests, trainees (1) who perceive that they can learn what they want to at Polytechnic Colleges, or alternatively, who believes skills, knowledges and know-hows acquired from training to be helpful in the future, and (2) who actively set about training have social skills than others. Some attitudes toward training relate to the level of social skills regardless of motivations, however, mostly, they relate to the social skills. Series of analyses indicate both motivation toward the vocational training and trainees’ absorption relate the social skills.

    The purpose of this study is to clarify what kind of specific knowledge or capability is required for workers engaged in tasks related to accounting of small and medium enterprises located at countryside by comparing with large enterprises such as listed companies based on “Evaluation Standards for Job Capability” developed by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. This study also consider which point we should note when educational institutions in local cities conduct a human resources training for workers related to accounting of small and medium enterprises located at countryside.

    The electrostatic precipitator is a device for reducing suspended fine particles, which is widely used from home air cleaner to industrial applications. However, odorous substances cannot be almost reduced with the electrostatic precipitator. Most odorous substances are liquids at room temperature, however these become volatile if vaporized. Generally, gaseous substance is not removed from air with electrostatic precipitator. In this study, we investigated that odorous substances are removed with an electrostatic precipitator, and then, odorous substances are reduced by the ozone generated with corona discharge. The measurement of odorous substances is used odorous sensor corrected for ozone concentration. Furthermore, collected substances at collected electrode in electrostatic precipitator are analyzed by a Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) with the Nujol methods.

    This paper proposes a set of teaching materials for Linux device driver programming including intrinsic motivation elements. The set of materials consists of a microcomputer car, the Nintendo Wii Remote, sample source codes of driver and user programs, text documents and Moodle contents. Among these materials, the intrinsic-motivation elements are the microcomputer car and the Wii Remote. Students can check programs developed by themselves, including the part of Linux device drivers, by observing movements of that car. Exercises using pressing buttons and 3-axis acceleration sensors in the Wii Remote are given to students. Thus paper also reports the practical use of our developed materials for students of Polytechnic University of Japan(SYOKUGYO DAI), and shows that our materials surely give intrinsic motivations to students and that this lead to the educational effectiveness of our materials not only for the Linux device programming education but also the educations of related subjects such as C programming, Linux basis and networking.

    Most technical high schools do not have sufficient number of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) as teaching materials because of their high prices. In this paper, software to utilize an Arduino as PLC by ladder diagrams is developed. The software can support the students to obtain a qualification called the Electric Equipment Assembling (Sequence-Control) 3rd grade Technical-Skill-Test.
