This paper describes numerical simulations of natural ventilation by using a solar chimney system. In the solar chimney, the air warmed by the walls of the chimney which were heated by solar radiation gets buoyancy and flows upward of the chimney. Thus, this phenomena acts like an air pump and considered to be an alternative way of the ventilation for buildings and houses. In this paper, we assumed that the typical building with three floors attached with the solar chimney system, and tested both the series type and the parallel type of air flow route with a cool pit under the building for heat exchange between the incoming air and the ground as a simple air conditioner. In addition, a improved type of the ventilation system was proposed.
