It was put in order about the color management in the digital work flow in the present printed matter preparation, and a problem was examined. There were many subjects, and it found that enough color management flow couldn’t be decided for the actual practical use as a result. The P2QM (Prepress & Print Quality Management) system concept was proposed as that solution. It can be applied to the various color management flows, and it thinks that there is an advantage again according to P2QM as for the quality assurance as well. The product which became a nucleus such as ColorMission was developed, and it was proceeding with the verification of the validity of P2QM till now. The validity of P2QM can be proved as a result.

Our domestically designed software is able to generate secure PDF format files embedded invisible photographs or identifiers for certificates, If the application data from citizens is detected in mail folder of Issuing Authority, the data is transferred to contents server and converted to secure PDF format files involving ImageSwitch® data. Afterwards, the digital data for certificates is issued to citizens and outputted by purchasing printers and materials. It is possible to authenticate the outputted certificates by IR viewers.

This study investigated the penetration of the ink vehicle into the printing paper. In order to obtain useful information on the interaction between the substrate structure and the ink, we developed a new technique by combining the FIB method with an electron probe micro analysis (EPMA) after osmium labeling of the unsaturated carbon double bonds in the vehicle. Using this novel method, we could first observe the distribution of the vehicle after it transferred to and penetrated into the paper.

The initial UV curing reaction was characterized for UV cured films (varnish blended with UV cure type acrylate and oxidation cure type alkyd resin). The amount of UV cured polymer was estimated by weighing the remnant of solvent extraction. The ratio of acrylate to alkyd resin was determined with the on-line methylation pyrolysis GC-MS. Furthermore, UV cured films were observed with a transmission electron microscope (TEM). As a result, it was found that a part of the alkyd resin existed in an insoluble state into solvent after being UV cured.

Understanding ink flow behavior in offset printing machine is very important to optimize both its process control and material design. We have developed ink flow simulator to predict the ink film thickness anywhere on rollers, plate and blanket of the machine and on printed paper at any time. Ink film thickness is sampled every 1 square millimeter of the surface and calculated with a simple model that represents ink transfer from a rolling surface to another with a specified transfer rate, considering actual roller configuration. The result of simulation has a strong correlation to the measurement of density on corresponding actual print. Also we refer to the way of using the simulator from a point of view of a printing machine user.

A new in-line density measurement system has been developed. This system consists of a new image capture head based on CCD and a light source and is mounted on a paper delivery of printing press. The image capture head reads solid density of control strips on printed sheets in real time as the sheets come through the delivery. Thus, efficient ink density control during printing can be achieved.

We studied the various initiating systems that consist of sensitizing dyes and initiators such as photoacid generators and radical generators and found that the photopolymer consists of a pyrromethene sensitizing dye, a naphthalimide type photoacid generator, and a polymer bearing acetal group could exhibit a high photosensitivity by applying the chemical amplification mechanism. The sensitization mechanism in a polymer film was also studied by means of absorption and fluorescence spectrum, high performance liquid chromatography, and laser flash photolysis method, and then we applied the novel photopolymer to the Computer-to-Plate technology (CTP) and dry film resist for printed circuit board (PCB).

Described in this study are characteristics of new photopolymer designed specifically for ring-opening polymerization of epoxide monomers in thin polymer film. The result reveals that these materials undergoes a marked change in solubility following exposure to 254 nm and can function as a negative type photoresist. Experiments designed to elucidate the photochemical and thermal reactions occurring in the films are described and the preliminary evaluation of lithographic properties is presented.

Fuji Photo Film Co.,Ltd. has developed the new thermal positive platemaking system which can reduce 40% of environment load in LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) of current system. Concretely we developed new computed developer replenishment method and hollow floating lid for developer and those attained of making chemical life three times and chemical wastes by half. In addition, we adopted plastic molded parts for the main body and side racks first for this kind of machine to make it easy for operator to clean the processor.
