This study considers perspective on “life of the child” in school social work practice by researching child welfare studies by Yasuko Ichibangase. Ichibangase states that playing is the core of “life of the child” and the child is the practical subject in the right to development. She also emphasizes the role of adults who secure the child's rights to live and exist in a healthy environment as the basis of the right of human development. In addition, she indicates the dual nature of the school in capitalist society―the meritocratic educational system and the place of life―and proposes reform both of the school and the community. Ichibangase's views regarding the child and the school provide reliable perspective on “life of the child” currently when capitalist system has become a global standard.
