In the previeus paper (in the Jour. of the Soc. of Nav.Arch. of Japan, No.130), the authors investigated the form effect on the skin friction and showed that (1) the form effect does not follow the Froude law and reaches to a considerable amount in the case of full ships, and (2) this effect can be roughly estimated from symmetrical aerofoil tests and thus it may be fit in practice or the estimation of powering at the initial design stage. The present paper gives a set of charts of the resistance for supertankers. These are obtained from the skin friction by the Schoenherr value, the roughness allowance as 0.0003, the form effect by the previous estimation and the wave-making resistance, not the so-called residual resistance, by the Taylor charts. The application for several tankers showed a good coincidence with their trial results within about ±5% error. The variation of the principal particulars is obtained under a condition of constant resistance, displacement, speed, draft and longitudinal C.B., from which it may be infered that the supertankers in future had better trend towards the ship form of small L/B rather than that of large σp.
