In addition to the traditional classification of “Iga version” and “Koka version”, there existed a “Kansu version” lineage of “Bansen-shukai”. Its “Kansu version” lineage is a manuscript that is closer to the original than the other lineages. “Kansu version” led to the “Iga version” and later to the “Koka version”. The scrolls in the “Bansen-shukai” were not all established in the same year, and some of them were established in different years. It has been thought that the author of the ninjutsu book was “Fujibayashi Sabuji Yasutake,” but to be more precise, it was “Fujibayashi Den-goro Yasumichi.” In connection with the position of “Iga-mono” of the Todo clan, “Bansen-shukai” traced the route of dissemination, which was spread mainly in the Iga region within a specific framework, and eventually flowed to other regions such as the Koka region, and then to the Edo shogunate. Until now, the interpretation of “Bansen-shukai” has been based mainly on “Koka version”. However, in the future, the “Iga version”, especially the “Okimori-version”, should be regarded as the best book, and other manuscripts should be consulted and studied as necessary.
