    SuperKEKB achieved the world’s highest luminosity record of 2.40×1034 cm−2 s−1. SuperKEKB adopts a novel collision method named nano-beam scheme in which the colliding beams are squeezed to extremely small sizes at the interaction point. The crab waist (CW) collision scheme was also applied in April 2020 to suppress beam–beam blowup. Following a brief introduction of the nano-beam and CW collision schemes, the overview of collision operation and beam tuning, and the issues which should be solved for further luminosity performance are reported.

    The J-PARC Main Ring has provided high-intensity proton beams for the long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment called T2K. The present beam power reaches 515 kW. The T2K experiment recently indicated the CP violation in the lepton sector. To increase the confidence level of the indication, we plan the upgrade of the J-PARC Main Ring to achieve a beam power of 1.3 MW. In this article, we describe not only the upgrade for 1.3 MW but also various activities which we have already done to achieve the present beam power.

    An accelerator based Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) is a new trend for radiation therapy of cancer. In the Ibaraki neutron medical research center, a project to develop an accelerator based BNCT system called “iBNCT” (Ibaraki, BNCT) is in progress. In this paper, the accelerator system, which output proton beam with the beam energy of 8 MeV and beam current of 2.1 mA DC equivalent, will be introduced.

    A compact 3 GeV diffraction limited light source is under construction at Aobayama new campus in Tohoku University to deliver the highly brilliant soft X-rays. The storage ring consisting of 16 4-bend achromat lattices in a circumference of 349 m can provide 28 user beamlines. The natural horizontal emittance is expected to be around 1.1 nm.rad, and the maximum brilliance will exceed 1021 photons/s/mm2/mrad2/0.1% b.w. for the 1–3 keV region with a stored current of 400 mA. The accelerator components are designed based on the studies for the SPring-8 upgrade project. A full energy injector linac utilizing C-band accelerating structures similar to SACLA is employed for the low emittance injection to the ring and the future upgrade to an SXFEL. The building for the light source is designed to satisfy various requirements such as low floor vibration and high stability of cooling water temperature based on experience accumulated at SPring-8/SACLA building and utility system.
