The counting rate of gamma rays from
241Am passed through the pulps which was twenty centimeters in thickness and twelve different density was determined.
The results obtained are summarized as follows;
1) The scattering diagram made with counting rate and pulp density showed good lineaity.
2) An empirical formula of this scattering diagram by method of least squares was
y=(-.55807332E-02)x+(.56455067E 01)
where y=logarithmic counting rate of gamma rays,
x=the weight percent of solids of the pulp.
3) The Correlation coefficient obtained by the relation between counting rate and pulp density was r=-.99936005 where r=the correlation coefficient.
4) The above mentioned correlation coefficient was significant of 99 percent reliability.
As the result of this experiment, it is considered that the pulp density are determined with radio isotope without difficulty.
