In the process of sea water concentration for the analysis of environmental radioactivity, a water removing method using an ultrasonic nebulizer was proposed instead of the conventional process that requires long precipitation time. It took only 2.5 hours to remove the moisture from 15 L of sea water with the proposed method, whereas the conventional method requires at least 24 hours for precipitation. From the results of the gamma-ray spectrums of the concentrated samples, the validity of the proposed method was verified.

A method to reduce the error from reflected SW to measurement accuracy of SW velocity was proposed in this study. The scanning time delay in B-mode measurement causes a spatial frequency shift between the forward and backward SWs measured. Therefore, these SWs could be separated using a spatial frequency filter. The proposed method was verified using a soft tissue mimicking phantom. The reflected SW was filtered out from the observed SW and the SW velocities were determined.

In this paper, long-term observation in the Antarctic Ocean using newly developed profiling float for deep sea "Deep NINJA", it succeeded in the deep sea profiling observation under the winter sea ice for in about six months for the first time in the world. From the data obtained by this, it was analyzed for ocean sound that depth of up 4,000 m in under winter ice in the Antarctic Ocean. In the place deeper than 2,000 m that was not observed by the Argo float, it was found that variations in salinity and water temperature is small, and does not affect the sound speed changes therefore. Moreover, in the sea surface, it succeeded in capturing clear seasonal variation in the freezing season and the thawing season. Therefore, the possibility that the sound propagation path and the signal level is different depending on the season was found in the shallow sea area of Antarctic Ocean. From this, the possibility to affect the predation actions of passive sonar or marine mammals is thought about.

In the current rip region, the sound propagation from the TuWE side toward the OyCWm side are compared for FlatB, IncB, and ActB, and is examined. When SD in FlatB is shallow, sound field is formed with CZ and BB propagation. When the source depth becomes deep, SC propagation is generated in addition to CZ and BB propagation. The formation of CZ propagation is obstructed by the bottoms, and BB propagation is controlled by the inclination of bottoms. When SD becomes deep, SC propagation is formed, and TL becomes small. The bottom obstructs the formation of CZ propagation, and the inclination of the bottom contributes to the change in the reflection direction.
