Larva of Pieris naganum karumii IKEDA fed on Bretschneidera sinensis HEMSL (Bretscheideraceae). The immatures and life history were investigated. The characteristics of each life stage and hostplant are described.
According to recent discoveries, the paper here revises what was uncorrectly described in the past about the larva's host-plant of Pieris naganum. The larva's host-plant ought to the Bretschneidera sinensis not Alianthus altissima var. tanakai. And the paper also dealts with the morphology and habit of the early stages of this butterfly. The question on the distributional relationihip between this butterfly and its larva's host-plant is also propounded.
