The purpose of this paper is to improve geographic studies at junior high school, in using heuristic learning method. The auther developed a sample curriculum for this purpose. The results are as follows;
1) The most important thing is for students themselves to make discover each superficial fact and get a conceptual knowledges behind it. We expect these knowledges must be useful when they study other areas.
2) The first stage of the heuristic learning is for student to know concrete facts. Teachers must keep their student having a strong desire to learn and let them continue studing until they find a typical fact. The auther believes it one of the best way to give their students strong motivations and independent attitude to study social studies.
3) According to J. S. Bruner, the heuristic learning method aims at the heuristics of discovery made by student themselves. To frame a hypothesis and to verify it is for students themselves to find out the pattern of discovery on its process.
