     心的外傷後ストレス障害(PTSD)で生じる悪夢に対する非薬物療法のうち,イメージを利用した治療法として代表的なものに,Imagery Rehearsal Therapy, Imagery Rescripting, Exposure, Relaxation, and Rescripting Therapyがある。近年のメタ解析では,悪夢の頻度,睡眠の質,PTSD症状の3項目において改善が認められた。本邦での日常臨床にこの治療法を組み入れるための工夫について論じ,筆者がこの治療法を利用するために作成した心理教育用の冊子について説明を加えた。PTSDの悪夢に対する,イメージを利用した治療は海外で一定の効果が示されており,今後更なる実践により本邦での効果検証がなされることを期待する。

    It is very difficult for many Japanese to discriminate some English phonemes such as /r/ and /l/ only through ears. If so, then, how about using eyes to discriminate them like deaf people? This paper reports how deaf people communicate, how speech reading or lip reading is done and how it is taught in deaf schools, and then it examines the applicability of speech reading to Japanese learners of English by using the home video 'Working Girl'. The findings are that it is not impossible but not easy, and yet it is worth trying. There are a lot of things to learn from deaf education.

    Feature films are fictional. Even if the film is realistic, we cannot accept it uncritically as the film reflects reality. However, it is inevitable that the temporality and regionality where the film is produced and released are reflected on the feature film (especially commercial films). For this reason, we explore the stories that society has entrusted to local films by deciphering them. This article discusses family styles through films in Malaysia and Indonesia. Both countries are multiethnic, multi-religious and multi-lingual, and the majority religion, Islam, has a major impact on society, while Islam is positioned in society as one of several religions. In Malaysia, characterized by ethnic ranks and Islamic authority, love and companionship across ethnic and religious differences becomes an issue. However, Yasmin Ahmad’s films appeal that the problem to be solved is not the difference in ethnicity or religion but the power relationship between parent and child or between married couple. There have been more Indonesian films featuring polygamy with women playing a leading role in foreign countries, which can be understood as an attempt to create a family based on the value of Islam. We interpret it as showing that women who are trying to live away from the interference of their parents and the community are finding it difficult to balance their career with a good mother.

    近年、視聴率が高い作品が多い連続テレビ小説(通称、朝ドラ)について、NHK放送文化研究所朝ドラ研究プロジェクトでは、作品ごとに視聴者調査を行って朝ドラの視聴実態と好調要因を探る研究を行っている。今回の『ひよっこ』調査は『まれ』『あさが来た』『とと姉ちゃん』『べっぴんさん』に続く5作品目の調査である。作品に対する満足度の平均は85%で、『とと姉ちゃん』と同レベル。「丁寧な登場人物の描写」に多くの視聴者が共感し、「善人しか出てこないこと」で安心してドラマを楽しんだという人が多かった。また、登場人物それぞれが幸せな結末を迎える

    だったことが、終盤の高評価につながった。一方で、4作ぶりのモデルのいない作品であり結末が予想できないこと、あるいは会話劇主体で話の進行が遅かったことから、視聴者が、全体のストーリー展開を楽しむ長期的視点ではなく、日々のエピソードや登場人物を楽しむ短期的視点で見るほうが『ひよっこ』をより楽しむことができたと推察された。本来は長期的視点でドラマを見る人も、『ひよっこ』の作風に合わせて見方を変え、時には短期的視点でドラマを楽しんでいたことも分かった。

    For over fifty years, television stations have been sending information to their audiences in the form of a one-way stream. Now Internet technology has made it possible for the audience to respond with e-mail, online forms, discussion groups and more. This study examines the changing relationship between broadcasters and their audiences between 1995 and 2002 by analyzing the Tokyo Broadcasting System's Website data. The research found that the Internet serves broadcasters and their audiences in four primary ways: 1) As a window into public opinion and attitudes. 2) As a means of gathering material for television programs. 3) As an educational tool to teach media literacy. 4) As a way to enable audience members to broadcast short films of their own. The study also found that in the Internet world the vertical relationship between broadcaster and audience has been changing towards a more lateral.

    The aim of this paper is to discuss the fundamental characteristics of translated Japanese animation movies by analyzing adaptations applied in the process of translation. Two distinct approaches are adopted for this analysis. One approach compares the numerical phenomena of the words used in the translation of animes with American animations originally written in English. The other approach involves using Warriors of the Wind, a translation of an award-winning Japanese animation movie, as a concrete example to provide more in-depth consideration to the lexical phenomena. The analysis of the statistical data gathered on words used in translated animations indicates that the vocabulary of translated animations is significantly poorer in number, variety, and density. In addition, the proportion of words appearing only once in a translated work is lower, whereas that of words repeated more than six times is higher. Behind these phenomena lies the influence of the target culture, including the normalization or standardization of the text in accordance with adults' attitudes toward children, which are liable, whether consciously or not, to distort translation that involves the adaptation and the transformation of words, sentences, and even whole scenes in Warriors of the Wind. Adjusting the text to the model of the target system still predominates in translated animation movies for children.

    The purpose of this study was to propose a method of 'qualitative' content anlysis, and to examine its methodological usefulness by relating its results to the viewers' reactions. A televised drama, in which a committed teacher dealt with the problem of bullying the classroom was analyzed, and viewers' reactions to the drama were collected by a questionnaire and summarized. The content analysis was done in the following manner: First, the development of the drama was analyzed and then segmented into units. Second, the units were categorized into three negative stages and two positive stages in terms of the characters' mental state. It was found that this method of content analysis was quite informative for identifying the segments of the problem that probably induced each reaction of the viewers.

    Sidney Sheldon (1917-2007), a legendary best-selling American novelist of romantic suspense, was also very popular in Japan. According to the top ten lists including Japanese authors, his name appeared for 7 consecutive years from 1988 to 1994. This unbreakable record is generally assumed by Japanese critics, who are apparently unfamiliar with his work, to be thanks to the unique translational method called "cho-yaku" (literally, super-translation) invented by Tatsuyuki TENMA (pen name of Kunio MASHIKO), a kind of technique enabling an American novel to look like one originally written in Japanese. Mr.Tenma, as the president of the publishing house Academy Shuppan, seems to have built a close relationship with Sidney Sheldon, getting his trust and permission to translate not only most of Sheldon's well-known 18 novels but also rare ones unpublished in the United States such as Man on the Run, The Dictator, and The Revenge. The Chase (1984), in which Masao, the 18-year-old Japanese heir to a Sony-like international company, survives with a samurai spirit his uncle's devilish plot in the US, remains an unforgettable present to Japan from Sidney Sheldon because it was kindly and earnestly written for Japanese learners of English, responding to Mr.Tenma's unusual request. Probably cho-yaku helped Sheldon's books sell as well as in his home country, but it was undoubtedly Sheldon's genius in storytelling that kept his Japanese fans absorbed in turning the page.

    This paper is a guide to 50 books of Page Turners Reading Library published by Heinle, Cengage Learning, which area 12-level graded reading series of original stories from level 1(200 headwords) to level 12 (2600 headwords). Considering that other ordinary graded readers are divided into 6 levels, the 12 levels seem too minute to be useful. The concept of Page Turners, however, is quite successful in forcing the reader to turn pages with growing interest. Every Page Turners book is enjoyable just because it compels the reader to want to know what is going on, or what will happen next, which sometimes turns out to be not so interesting after all, though. In addition to how to read English, the reader can learn how to write fiction,especially, various techniques of arousing the reader’s curiosity and keeping his/her attention.
    The books from level 1 to level 4, set in a fictional Brenton College in the Unites States, are seemingly created as a companion series to Foundations Reading Library in which Bayview High School students' daily lives and extraordinary adventures are vividly described. Since the new heroes and heroines are older than the former counterparts, the stories are much more serious and far more complicated with adult conflicts. As a result, the protagonists can no longer stay around school; naturally the books from level 5 on to the end have nothing to do with Brenton College. Now the setting limitation is gone, stories are written as freely as possible. Many of these are the products of Cambridge English Readers authors like Sue Leather, Richard MacAndrew, Margaret Johnson, and Antoinette Moses. Page Turners makes good use of the forerunner's know-how, effectively adding a Macmillan English Readers-like illustrated introduction of characters before the text. Sue Leather and Julian Thomlinson's collaborated work Heart of a Fighter and Irene Barrall's unique, heartwarming story The Long Road to Lucca are highly recommended as excellent examples of this series.

    近年高視聴率が続く連続テレビ小説(通称、朝ドラ)について、NHK放送文化研究所朝ドラ研究プロジェクトでは、作品ごとの視聴者調査から朝ドラの視聴実態と好調要因を探る研究を継続している。今回の『わろてんか』は6作品目。大阪で寄席を経営する主人公を中心とした群像劇で、人生には「笑い」が必要であるという作品テーマに共感した視聴者が多い。作品に対する満足度では、過半数の56%の人が[まあ満足]という評価を選択したため、この多数の[まあ満足]派が、結果的に今作の評価を支えたと考えて、その人たちの評価に注目して分析した。明るさに代表される[作品の雰囲気]や[ヒロインの周囲の人物]への評価が高く、実在の人物をモチーフとしていることから「困難な場面も乗り切れるだろう」という期待や安心感を持って最後まで見た人が多かった。また「気楽に見られる作品であったこと」も、最後まで視聴を離脱させない大きな力となった。朝ドラを比較的よく見た人では、朝ドラの戦時描写を見たくない気持ちはあるが、描写の主旨への理解度は高く、史実に沿って戦争を描くことはやむを得ないという人が9割と多かった。長期視点派50%、中間派23%、短期視点派27%。長期視点派は『わろてんか』を長期視点的作品として楽しみ、短期視点派は短期視点的作品として楽しんだ。

    本研究ではイギリス人のダニー・ボイル監督によるインドのスラム出⾝の少年を主人公にした 映画「スラムドッグ$ミリオネア」(2008)を取り上げ、この映画をめぐる⽂化変容のダイナミズムを究明した。そのイギリスとインドのハイブリッドという性質ゆえに、この映画は⽂化変容のダイナミズムの起点となり、さらなる流動化をもたらした。インドにおけるこの映画に対する評価が批判から賞賛へと移っていったことは、グローバルな⼒とローカルな⼒のせめぎ合いを端的に表している。当初インドにおいては、⻄洋人による差別的なインドの表象であるとしてこの映画に対する批判が相次いだ。しかし、時間と空間が「圧縮」されたグローバル社会においては、グローバルな声がより大きなものとして現れる。オスカー受賞という高い国際的権威を帯びることで、インド国内ではこの映画が「我々」のものであるとの認識に転換していく。この認識の転換にグローバル社会におけるインドの人としてのアイデンティティの模索が表れている。

    This is a summary guide to 51 books of Richmond Robin Readers, which seem to be targeted at teenage learners of English, judging from the ages of the protagonists: 12 or 13 to 19 years old in accordance with the levels from 1 (300 headwords) to 6 (1800 headwords). The characteristics of this series are as follows: 1) A fifth of the stories are set in Australia whose indigenous animals such as crocodiles and kangaroos are effectively used in Jane Bowring's Cousins and Crocodiles and James Roy's Broken Wing. 2) Half of the books are about the teen protagonists fighting against adult criminals, mainly robbers. Although some of them are quite humorous like Denise Kirby's Black Night, others are unexpectedly serious like Pauline O'Carolan's Ride for Your Life and Deadly Holiday. A unique writer, Ms. O'Carolan prefers describing evil doings of abnormal people like an arsonist, a stalker and even a serial killer. 3) Many of the stories are based on the protagonists' newly found leisure activities such as skiing, scuba diving, horse riding, orienteering, ballooning, yachting, and rafting, out of which powerful stories like Ms. Kirby's Hot Air and Sue Murray's Wild Water were born. Since those recreational experiences are not so hard to be accessible to teenagers, they will probably enjoy reading such rather approachable adventures.
    Other recommended books you cannot miss in this series are Sue Murray's CHOIR Boy (a good-looking boy robot causes a lot of trouble at school), Sam Bowring's In Sarah's Dreams (a girl fights back the bully in her dreams), Philip Voysey's The Rainbow Girl (an outcast, hunchback girl kills a monster for her village), and Denise Kirby's What Happened at Seacliffe (through the visit to her rich cousins in England, an Australian female student gets to know that her ancestor was robbed of his inheritance and forcibly sent to the faraway land as a criminal most probably by his own brother).

    本論文では,日本において大きな注目を集め,学生や研究者の数も増えつつある文化社会学について,その特徴と主要な潮流を明らかにしていく.文化社会学の特徴は,研究対象や視座の幅広さにあるが,それだけではない。社会の特定領域だけを対象とした研究というより,むしろ文化を通してその時々の社会の状況に迫ろうとするアプローチという点が,他の(連字符)社会学との違いである.

    文化には,狭義と広義の2 つの意味があるといわれ,前者が通常の日常生活で意味するところの文化であり(たとえばポピュラー文化,大衆文化など),後者は生活様式全般や社会構造,文明といった広い意味合いをもっているが(たとえば,日本文化,西洋文化など),この点からすれば,文化社会学とは,狭義と広義の文化との間のダイナミズムを理解しようとするアプローチといえるだろう.

    そして日本における文化社会学は,これまでに大きく4段階の変化を遂げてきたといえよう.第1段階が戦前の勃興期で,第2段階が戦後から高度経済成長期にかけての発展期であり,幾人もの社会学者が,独自の理論的な視座の精緻化を図りつつ,大衆文化を対象に重要な研究を成し遂げた時期であった.第3段階は,そのあとの定着期であり,文化社会学がますます広まっていった時期である.そして今日,文化社会学は第4段階を迎えつつあるといえる.

    Quantitative studies and process models of narrative persuasion published since 2000 were reviewed in order to identify influences of narratives on readers’ attitudes that result from changes in thinking and affect. Firstly, characteristics of narrative persuasion research were briefly introduced by summarizing definitions of narratives and attitudes, and by illustrating typical methodologies of narrative persuasion research. Secondly, theories on the process of narrative persuasion and narrative experiences were reviewed. These models were then integrated and the process of narrative persuasion was categorized into thinking and affective routes, and each process was explained with reference to supportive studies. It was suggested that the affective route currently has stronger empirical support than the thinking route. Finally, topics for future research were suggested, which include closely examining each process, improving methodologies, and comprehensively investigating relationships between narrative persuasions and narrative experiences.
