In recent years, ceramics matrix composites (CMC), which have larger fracture toughness than ceramics, have been developed for aero space structural materials. In CMC, the silicon carbide/silicon carbide (SiC/SiC) composite shows specific strength of 1.5 times higher than that of heat-resistant alloys, and it has a superior heat resistance. In this study, the tension-tension fatigue tests were performed for unidirectional fiber reinforced SiC/SiC composites. The reinforcement used in this study is Tyranno fiber (SA-grade) made in Ube Industries, Ltd., and the matrix's formation was carried out through the polymer impregnation and pyrolysis (PIP) method. Then, three kinds of test specimens, for which PIP method was repeated 2, 4 and 8 times to change SiC matrix densification, were prepared. Finally, the effect of the degree of matrix densification on the fatigue properties of unidirectional fiber reinforced SiC/SiC composites was clarified.
