Dynamic response characteristics of liquid metal cooled fast breeder reactor vessel structure subjected to hypothetical core desruptive accident load was investigated by a series of 1/15 and 1/7.5 scaled model tests using a specifically developed chemical explosive for pressure source simulating the postulated load condition.
Dynamic pressure and strains were measured successfully at several points of the models and a lot of interesting and useful results were obtained under realistic loading conditions.
General characteristics of the structural response was clearly shown by the test results.
