    真の観光立国となるには、訪日外国人旅行者が安心して旅行できるシステムを作ることが重要である。本稿 はまず公的機関と医療現場での外国人に対する医療通訳の一般的取組みとその現状を述べた上で、とりわけ訪 日外国人旅行者に現在なされている医療通訳に関する方策を概観し、その問題点を挙げた。ここでの課題は、 医療通訳者派遣のシステム作りと人材育成に集約され、前者には医師会や行政機関が協働するシステムの構築 がカギと考えられ、後者については特に英語以外の言語による通訳者をどう育成するかということに焦点が絞 られよう。この人材育成の観点から外国語大学での取組みとその役割に関して、医療通訳者の資質と外国語教 育の関係、および動機づけの観点から検討した。一方で通訳案内士資格試験内容の一部に、基礎的な医療知識 や医療用語などを組み込んでいくという提案を行った。

    We "ET Association", the association for Engineering Ethics studies and movement in Chubu Blanch of IPEJ (the Institution of Professional Engineers, Japan) held Technology Cafe, since last year. This movement is one of the sciences and technology communications, that engineer is positively doing to public, similar to "Science Cafe" that scientists are primly doing. I'll report here the educational effects on engineers.

    本稿は, グローバリゼーションに伴い新たに創出された地域性としての異種混交化 (町村2006) が進む地域において, そこで生まれる新しい社会問題や社会的緊張の緩和に移民女性たちが果たしてきた役割を明らかにすることを目的とする.
    名古屋市中区の繁華街・栄東地区は, 1980年代初頭からフィリピン人女性の就労が多かった場所である. ここでは, 1997年からフィリピン人の組織化が進み, 2000年には複数の組織が合同で事務所を借りて「フィリピン人移住者センター (Filipino Migrants Center: FMC)」を開設した.
    ここは, 繁華街における外国人コミュニティの中で, 日本社会の一番近くにある「窓」として機能する. そして彼女らはインナーシティの地域活性化への人的資源ともなってきた. その背景には, 移民女性に特徴的な「弱者性」が定住を促進したこと, また日本の政策・施策も「外国人の定住と多文化共生の地域づくり」の担い手を必要としてきたことがある.
    すなわち, 栄東地区においては, 剥奪的状況に置かれた移民女性と地元住民・行政との結合的関係がまず作られ, 彼らの「共生事業=窓」を通じて関係が保たれた. そして, 地域で移民男性が関わる問題が発生すると, その窓を利用して彼らと地域住民との対話が図られ, 地域が抱える新たな社会問題や社会的緊張への解決が試みられてきたと言えよう.

    The author insist they have to emphasize on geographic education of the third world in a junior high school.
    The author tried to create a few geography classes which were included new method, such as role playing, symulation games.
    Example 1. Save The space shuttle, “Chikyugou” In the class of Latin America, the students discussed on Amazon Development in the three persons view points, such as “Mr. Jose, developer” “Pauleeño, Indio” “Mr. Smith, ecologist”
    Example 2. India-the Poverty In order to make the students understand, the life of people in India. The students did symulation game, which was making paper back. Through this game they noticed the poverty ploblem of India. Not only that, but they began to collect the used post-cards to help the illetaracy people in the third world, which was the campaign held by Nagoya Kokusai Center. The conclusion of this study are as follows;
    1) In the geography class, role-playing is important, when discussing global and environmental issue.
    2) Symulation game was very effective for making the students enhance the motivation to do something to the people in the third world.
    The author thinks according to the increase of ODA, the role of geography education in junior high school is getting much important. What important thing is, to make new curriculum focused on the third world.

    This paper uses the case of disaster prevention activities in Nagoya to consider the potential of voluntary organizations in local governance run by the voluntary and public sectors. To this end, the paper first traces how voluntary organizations and local governance are developed, and then shows the functions, problems and geographical characteristics of that local governance.

    The recent voluntary activities related to disaster prevention in Nagoya derive from experiences of voluntary activities in the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in Kobe in 1995. Many people in Nagoya were involved with voluntary activities in Kobe, and some of them established an NPO in Nagoya to maintain continued support for victims and to prepare for future disasters based on the knowledge gained by ‘studying the affected area.’ Then a massive flood struck the Nagoya area in 2000. From this experience, the government of Nagoya City recognized the importance of voluntary activities at times of disaster, and launched a training program for coordinators of disaster volunteers in 2002, which was outsourced to the NPO. As the city government was not well informed about voluntary activities, the NPO was able to conduct the program based on its own knowledge and ideals. This program triggered the establishment of more community-oriented groups for disaster prevention in Nagoya. In parallel, these groups and the NPO tried to develop a relationship between voluntary organizations and the public sector to more effectively conduct their activities. Eventually, a collaborative framework (local governance) on disaster prevention between the voluntary and public sectors was established in 2005.

    This governance provides support for afflicted people at times of disaster, and contributes to disaster prevention activities in normal times in Nagoya. Institutionally, the geographical area of the governance corresponds to the territory of the city, but the governance has links to voluntary organizations and supports affected areas outside Nagoya. Knowledge and information acquired through external relationships and activities outside Nagoya are used in activities in Nagoya. The reason why the local governance constructed these links was because this governance was constructed mainly on the initiative of the voluntary organizations, and so the principles behind their activities, such as ‘studying the affected area,’ can be maintained.

    Through these findings, this paper argues that voluntary organizations have the potential to take key roles in constructing and managing local governance run by the voluntary and public sectors, without losing their autonomy.

    平成17~19年に、計3回に渡る総計266名のデザイン学生を対象とした先行調査の結果、デザイン学生意向の多様化傾向が判明された。学生が従事したいデザイン分野では(1)生産財範疇から消費財範疇への傾向、(2)専門性から普遍性への傾向、(3)既存分野から新規分野への傾向、という三つの考察結果ができた。これらの傾向に対して、(1)「本格的なエクス・カリキュラムの導入」(2) 「スキル指向からリテラシー指向へ」、(3)「ティーチングからコーチングスキルへ」などの対策を提案した。次に、五つのワークショップを事例研究としてエクス・カリキュラムの可能性を検証し、「学びの在り方」と「刺激を与えること」について論議してまとめた。

    We are leaders of "ET Association" that is the association for study of engineering ethics that is in Chubu Blanch of IPEJ (the Institution of Professional Engineers, Japan). We have held for the first time "Technology Cafe" series four times from this April to July. That theme was "The public and engineers thinking the view of "safety and mind-peace"". This movement is a science & technology communications for public by engineers, similar to "Science Cafe" that scientists are primarily doing, Also, "Technology Cafe" is scheduled after October to continue. I'll report on that first approach and results with this paper.

    A new method of melting and holding of a material with low thermal and electrical conductivities is proposed toovercome the problems of long heating period and localized overheat in a charge. In this method, a water cooled induction coil is directly used as a crucible, and the elements heated by a high frequency magnetic field are submerged into the charge. Experiments have been conducted on glass under various operating conditions, i.e. the coil current, the frequency and the radius of the heating elements. A mathematical model is developed to calculate the process variables such as the heat generation rates in the coil and the heating elements, and the temperature distribution in the charge. The calculated process variables are compared with the observed ones. The considerably good agreement between the theoretical and experimental results indicates the validity of the model. The heat generation rate in the heating elements is determined by the ratio of the radius of the heating element to the electromagnetic penetration depth and has the maximum value at the ratio of 1.8.

    In recent years, research on legal discourse has been on the rise in the United States and United Kingdom. A new discipline, "forensic linguistics" was born and has developed as part of linguistic research. Although the work of forensic linguistics in early days was "usually undertaken as an intellectual challenge and almost always required the creation, rather than simply the application, of a method of analysis" (Coulthard 1994: 27), the advancement of computer technology since the 1990s and beyond has provided forensic linguists with a new analytical tool, known as corpus linguistics. This new discipline not only enables them to process a large volume of data but also provides them with a new method of analyzing those data. In this paper, I shall first overview the forensic text analysis conducted in the U.K., then, evaluate usefulness of corpus linguistics for courtroom discourse analysis and finally discuss its relevance to interpreter-mediated legal discourse in Japan.

    The aim of this study is to consider positioning characteristics of floating object suspended by steady-state squeeze air films. For the columned thrust squeeze air bearing model, the numerical analysis technique based on Lees' difference approximation method is applied to solve the Reynolds equations. The piezo-driven oscillating pad generates the steady-state squeeze air film and step motion for shifting the floating object. The numerical results for the step response of the object position and air film pressure extremely agreed with the experimental ones. The step response showed the strong nonlinearity of dynamic air film characteristics. The phase lag between squeeze motion and step feed motion has a great influence on the step response. Because the squeeze motion is sinusoidal oscillation, the acceleration which acts on floating object affects with phase lag. Therefore minimizing the acceleration by controlling the phase lag can decrease the overshoot. The numerical results are shown in case of single air film generation on lower side and in case of dual air films on upper and lower sides. As a result, the operation with dual air films increases the damping characteristic and is effective to decrease the overshoot especially for the large step width.

    In 2017, the City of Nagoya announced a comprehensive incentive zoning system that provides floor-area ratio premiums for public use locations, as well as open space creation and lot consolidation. This study aims to show these policy effects in the downtown area by means of simulations on both indoor and outdoor populations. In this paper, we newly explore the two population estimation models fitted to the mobile phone location data, and also visualize the 3D built-up downtown features under each policy scenario by extending the existing simulator on 3D modeling software (Rhinoceros/Grasshopper).

    The aim of this research is to achieve a real time motion error correction of an object guided by squeeze air films. They are generated through sinusoidal relative perpendicular motions between the object and the driving pads excited by piezoelectric actuators. The non-contact motion error correction can be realized by controlling piezo expansion according to the measured motion error of the object while keeping piezo oscillations. In this paper, theoretical considerations and experimental verifications for squeeze air film characteristics are presented. Lees' difference approximation method is applied to solve the Reynolds equations governing pressure distribution for the upper and lower side air film and the equation of object motion simultaneously. The experimental equipment has an object of which the radial motion is constrained by an aerostatic guide to make a free vertical motion. It was experimentally confirmed that the squeeze air film could suspend the object with the mass of 1.39kg. The influence of step between surfaces of the driving pad and a pressure sensor embedded in the pad was considered by numerical analysis. When the depth of sensor surface was less than 20μm, the drop of a time mean pressure at the center of the driving pad was 2% or less for the flat surface. The experimental results of the time mean air film pressure and the floating height of the object agreed well with the numerical ones within 5% error when only the lower exciter was driven. Furthermore, as the lower and upper exciters were driven, it was demonstrated that the proposed technique could expect the characteristics of squeeze air films.
