    A hoist rope rupture accident of an elevator in a subway station occurred in 2011. According to the accident report, the causes were deterioration of strength of the wire rope by breaks of inner wires, and insufficiency of the inspection method regarding breaks of inner wires and red rust on the wire ropes. Although detection of the breaks of inner wires is difficult, the breaks relate to the decrease of diameter of wire rope and an occurrence of red rust. Therefore measurement of diameter of wire ropes and confirmation of the occurrence of red rust are required in periodic inspection at present. In general, diameter of wire ropes is measured by vernier calipers, and red rust is checked with eyes. However it is preferable to measure and check more accurately and homogenously from the viewpoint of recent accidents and global requirements. This study deals with development of a soundness evaluation system of wire rope by image processing. The system consists of a digital camera and a computer. The camera takes digital images of wire rope. The computer analyzes the digital images and calculates the diameter of wire rope from the digital images. Additionally red rust is also checked by analyses of the digital images. In this paper, a concept of the system and verification using wire ropes were described as a fundamental study of development of the system. As a result, it was confirmed that the system has adequate accuracy of diameter measurement and red rust detection.

    In Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, fall accidents of escalators occurred. In the fall accidents, the escalators connected the third floor and the second floor. These occurred in commercial facilities of steel frame buildings. In general escalators are set on beams of buildings without fixation. The cause of the fall accidents was that the escalators came off from the beams of the buildings by the great earthquake more than expected. After the escalator accidents, the quake resistance standard was revised in Japan. According to this standard, the layer displacement of buildings to be expected during earthquake is more than before. However, it is considered that a non-fixed part of an escalator collides with abeam of a building by an earthquake. In addition, the collision may give compression and residual displacement to the escalator. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to grasp dynamic behavior of an escalator at earthquake which considers impact with the beam. In this paper, behavior of an escalator during earthquakes is confirmed using the 3/10 escalator model.

    Four fall accidents of escalators utilized in three shopping centers occurred during Greatest East Japan Earthquake in 2011. Based on the fall accidents, the quake-resistance standard of the escalator was revised in Japan. In the new quake-resistance standard, inter-story deflection assumed during earthquakes was set larger than before. It is conceivable that an existing escalator receives compressive load from a building. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate how the escalator truss behaves due to compressive load. From the above background, this study builds a finite element analysis model of the escalator truss that is subjected to compressive load based on results of a compression experiment of the escalator trusses of actual machine size. The validity of the analysis model is investigate by comparing with the compressive experiment of the escalator truss of the actual size.

    A serious earthquake was occured in Japan on March 11, 2011 and some escalators fell off to downstair. A story drift make an installed length of a escalator fluctuate. Because of the forced displacement, the escalator-truss may catch the fatal damage. Therefore we carried out strength analysis (elasto-plastic analysis) of the escalator-truss. An Upper support angle is complete constraint condition, and lower support angle is taken forced desplacement. The maximum displacement is 200mm. Because the escalator-truss has horizontal reaction force when it is had forced displacement, we judged the frame to be able to become independent. A original-sized model displacement examination was compared with this calculation effect, we got similar force-displacement curve. We established strength evaluation means of the escalator-truss for the seismic design.

    This paper deals with carry out the characteristics grasp experiment of elevator brakes. These experiments investigated the effects of surface roughness, oil and water of the test piece. In these experiments, the electromagnetic brakes of the disk type were used. Load is input to the test piece by using a hydraulic actuator. Further, it is a mechanism to measure the generated load by using a load cell. The result of the experiment provided the following findings. 1)Water increases the frictional force. Therefore, there is no worry to the wet. 2)Smearing of oil reduces the frictional force. As a result, when the oil is smeared even one time, it is necessary to replace the brake pad with new without fail. 3)Effects of surface roughness given to frictional force is small. Consequently, the conceivable risk is low. This paper is based on the result that carried out by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport by "FY2013, the Building Standards Development Project for Promoting survey number: P6".

    Escalator has the support angle in the upper and the lower ends, and the escalator is suspended from the building beam by the support angle. In order to respond to changes (story drift) in the building beam distance at the time of earthquake, the escalator has the structure which is not subject to the forced displacement by the slidable to one or both ends of the support angle. The both ends slidable structure, might be moved by the story drift at both ends caused by the earthquake of small and medium scale, and exterior panel to attach to the escalator or building wall might be damaged. Therefore, development of the semi-fixed structure for prevent unnecessary damage is expected. This paper describes specific case studies of structure of semi-fixed structure (called semi-fixed pin). As a result, We got a prospect of establishing the semi-fix structure. In addition, We examined an evaluation method of the break strength of the semi-fixed pin.

    According to previous work, capacity of university entrants has a significant influence on university-going behavior. In Chiba prefecture the university location policy to increase the number of students going on to universities was implemented in the latter half of 1980s. However in fact, the increase of universities has only small influence on the expansion of students going to universities. In order to clarify this reason, this paper examines the relationship among location of high schools, academic ability of high school students, location of universities, their field of study and admission difficulty. As a result, capacity of university entrants has impact on high school students of rural areas irrespective of academic ability, but it has limited impact on high school students of urban areas with low test scores.

    In the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, escalator body fall accidents occurred. When a building is greatly shaken by an earthquake, an escalator may be greatly shaken as well. Therefore, top or bottom of escalators is fixed to beam of a building in order to follow layer deformation. In non-fixed side, the escalator is supported by L-form board and hanging to the beam of building. The length that escalator hanging to the beam of building is called overlap allowance. The length of the overlap allowance is determined by escalator technical standard. However, coming off of escalators from beams of the building is considered to be layer deformation with more than expected. After fall accident, the new earthquake resistant standard of the escalator was defined. By the new standard, escalator is less likely to fall. On the other hand, escalator receives compression force by a collision. It is necessary to clarify the seismic behavior of escalators to prevent such accidents. From the above-mentioned background, this study develops the analytical model of escalators for the seismic response analysis, and clarifies the seismic behavior of escalators to use the developed analytical model of the escalator. In this paper examine the safety of the new standard Overlap Allowance in comparison with sliding displacement of the escalator at the time of the earthquake.

    It is essential to evaluate fatigue damage of piping systems, especially those in existing nuclear installations that have experienced large earthquakes. In this study, shaking table tests were conducted to understand the seismic performance of pipe components. Elbow, equal tee and reducing tee were selected as typical geometries of the components. The test results demonstrated that the location of crack penetration depends on the geometry of the components and direction of the cyclic loading. It was also confirmed that there was a large margin in the cumulative fatigue usage factor based on the current design practice, and that the piping components had a sufficient margins for fatigue damages.

    本研究は、要介護者が介助用装着型補助具に装着した3箇所のグリップを把持した場合に、介助者の介助負担の影響について明らかにすることを目的としている。実験として、補助具の把持位置3条件(背部把持、腰部把持、胸部把持)と補助具なしの条件で行った。実験では、椅子に着座した被験者を抱え上げ、抱え下し、着座させる動作を行った。評価指標は、三次元動作解析による体幹前傾角度、脊柱屈曲角変位、筋電図による動作中の筋放電量を測定した。その結果、補助具の3条件では、補助具なしの条件に比べて、1)体幹前傾角度は、腰部把持が小さい、2)脊柱屈曲角変位は、腰部把持、背部把持が有意に小さい、3)筋電図は、腰部把持が背筋群で筋活動が小さいという結果を得た。このことから、補助具利用の腰部把持、背部把持は補助具なしに比べ腰部への負担が軽減することが明らかになった。

    Low back pain is one of the most aware osteopathic symptom. There are cases use a corset as one of methods of treating low back pain. However, wearing the corset at all times may possibly cause muscle decline. In past study, an active pneumatic corset with an extremely lightweight soft actuator is proposed. This study propose the assist corset with a posture feedback control function. By utilizing a posture feedback control, it is possible to change the rigidity against the muscle load. This paper describes basic experiments for design a soft actuator to generate a torque, angle measurement system for posture feedback control, and evaluation by an EMG test to the assist corset.

    In The Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, fall accidents of escalator have occurred. In commerical building of the steel-frame, four escalators have fallen. These escalators were connected on the 3rd floor from the 2nd floor. In general, escalator set into building with either bottom or upper non-fixed style. In non-fixed side, escalator is supported by the L-form board and hanging to the beam of building. Non-fixed side absorbs layer deformation. However, it is thought that escalator came off by layer deformation with more than expected. After fall accident, the new earthquake resistant standard of the escalator was defined.by the new standard, escalator is less likely to fall. On the other hand, escalator receives compression force by a collision. It is necessary to clarify the seismic behavior of the escalator. From the above-mentioned background, the purpose of this study is to develop the analytical model of the escalator for seismic response analysis. In this paper, the development of analytical model takes the impact with beam of building. In addition, analytical model considers elasto-plastic property of the escalator truss. Seismic response an analysis of escalator installed in low-rise building. As a result, escalator receives compression force and residual displacement. Residual displacement becomes short of the overlap allowanve. Therefore, there is a possibility that escalator come off by an earthquake of a repeat.

     起立・着座介助でとることの多い両足を前後にずらした立位での足向角と, 姿勢の安定性の関連を明らかにすることを目的とした. 対象は, 健常成人で, 女性28名, 男性6名, 平均年齢29.3歳であった. 足向角0度, 45度, 90度 (直角立ち) の足配置を決定し, それらの支持基底面積を測定した. さらに, 支持基底面積が0度と同等で足向角90度の足配置 (三角立ち) を決定した. 4種類の足配置の姿勢安定度評価指標 (IPS) と主観的安定度を測定した. その結果, 支持基底面積は足向角45度, 直角立ち, 0度と同等の三角立ちの順で大きかったが, IPSは, 三角立ち, 直角立ち, 45度, 0度の順で高かった. 主観的安定度は, 三角立ち, 45度, 直角立ち, 0度の順で高かった. 以上より, 両足を前後にずらした立位において足向角0度, 45度, 90度のなかで, 客観的に姿勢の安定性が高いのは足向角90度の足配置であることを明らかにした. さらに, 姿勢の安定性を高める足配置として, 支持基底面積以外に足向角が一つの要因となることが示唆された.

    Fall accidents of escalators occurred in the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake. The Escalator whose accident occurred was connected the second floor to the third floor in commercial facilities of the steel frame building. In general, escalators are set on beams of buildings. Furthermore, one side or both sides of the support are not fixed because of preventing damage to the escalator from the interlaminar deformation of the building. However, the interlaminar deformation of the building occurred more than expected by the great earthquake. In consequence, the fall accidents occurred because the escalators came off from the beams of the buildings. After the escalator accidents, the seismic standard was revised in Japan. The interlayer displacement angle of buildings was considered more than before. From this, the overlap allowance is longer so the possibility of the fall accidents decreases so much. However, an unfixed part of the escalator may collide with a building beam due to the earthquake. Furthermore, the escalator may transform by the collision and affect to the safety of themselves. Accordingly, in this study, the dynamic behavior of the escalator with the building beam during earthquakes is investigated, furthermore the safety against the revised earthquake resistance standards is confirmed. In this paper, the analysis methods for the safety evaluation is investigated a three-meter lift escalator, which has fallen due to an earthquake. The 3/10 scale model based on the three-meter lift escalator which the top is not fixed was created. Further, the vibration experiment with the 3/10 scale escalator model was carried out. The behavior of the 3/10 scale escalator model was confirmed during the earthquakes. Moreover, the seismic response analysis was carried out with the lumped mass models. The restoring force characteristics of the escalator were modeled by bilinear method. The validity of the analysis model was confirmed by comparing the analysis results with the experimental results. In addition, four patterns of actual escalators were evaluated.

    In recent years, electric vehicles have become increasingly popular. To operate safely them requires the recognition of the appropriate state of charge (SOC). However, the different between the real SOC and the predicted SOC can lead to problems such as missing the timing of charging. In order to solve this problem, we modeled the relationship between the driver's predicted SOC and the perceived SOC by man-machine model. We also introduced the informationistic free energy as a measure of the likelihood of the perceived SOC and modeled the relationship with the emotions of security and unease. The difference between real SOC and predicted SOC is defined as prediction error. Two models led to a hypothesis about the relationship between prediction error and emotion. The experiment show that subjects felt more uneasy in the larger prediction error condition. The experiment confirmed that emotions are affected not only by prediction error but also by the variance of recognition.
