In this paper, we examined the friction properties of the nanostripe structures consisted of soft and hard metals under dry condition. The nanostripe structure consists of Ag as soft metal and Cr as hard metal. We measured the friction force between Ag-Cr nanostripe structure and six counterparts (Mo, Ni, Ti, Si_3N_4, Al_2O_3, SUJ2) using a reciprocating friction tester in a vacuum of 2×10^<-4> Pa. Ag-Cr nanostripe structure that the ratio of Ag to Cr is 1 to 1 showed friction coefficient between 0.2 and 0.4. The friction coefficient of 0.2 was measured for Ag-Cr nanostripe structure that the ratio of Ag to Cr is 1 to 9. EDX (energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy) observations showed that Ag deposit exist in the surface of nanostripe in the wear track.
