Children's expressions touch our hearts because they embrace their experiences. This paper examines art education by looking at children's activities of expression as execution of meaning-while their experience is enriched by the activity itself ("poiesis", K. Nishida). Further argued is that expression is equivalent to `working on' something, whilst working on something forms "what I am" (B. Kimura). This paper also examines an art exhibition whose theme was "occurrence", in search of the possibility of mutual interaction with the world that is conscious of being an `occurrence'. From this analysis, it is construed that audience participation emphasizes a reflection upon the experience of the generating activity. Afresh we see the world as an accumulation of `Now=Time', an experience of an `occurrence'. Also, the intrinsic sense of time in the act of painting is that which makes the artistic experience the `now' and generates "what I am" (A. Tanigawa).
