This article investigates the relalion between the residential environment on Man-made Island and its surroundings from two different perspectives : the residents living on the MMIs and the structure of the view from their dwelling units. For the main purpose of this study, however we focused specifically on possible relation between the components seen from the dwelling units and the assessment of the view and wether different structures of the view leads to different assessment of the view. The results based on both questionnaire and image processing analysis of photographs taken from the dwellings, showed that the residential buildings were strongly related to the negative assessments of view while the sea was found to be related to the positive assessments. The structure analysis of the view indicated significant influences on those assessments in relation to the components' distance and extent.
