Abstract
DIFFERENTIATIOThe purpose of this paper is to make clear the differetiation of the types of plans and development of the interior space and design of the main hall of Buddhist temples of the Sodo zen sect in the last Edo period. The contents of this paper are as follows. Introduction 1) Differentiation of the types of plans of main hall of Buddhist temples of the Sodo Zen sect. 2) Development of the interior space and design of the daima (the reception hall) and naijin (the sanctuary). 3) The relation between the design of the main hall and the carpenters. 4) Development of the plan and design of the kaizando (the room to lay the statue of the founder of temple) and ihainoma (the room to lay the ancestral tablets of parishioner). Conclusion.
