Visibility of steps for stair users is one of important factors which affect the rate of stair accident. In this paper, we report experimental results about the effect by several prominent factors on the visibility; the effect by tile-joint patterns and the other patterns of tread surface, the effect by chamfer shapes of nosing, and the effect by lightness and illuminance of tread surface.
