On July 26, 2003 a strong inland earthquake of M=6.4 attacked several towns in Northern Miyagi Prefecture and named as Northern Miyagi Earthquake. The same name earthquake occurred in 1962 at about 50km north of the 2003 event and showed similar damage. In this paper, damage data are collected through reconnaissance reports and newspaper articles at that time. Three and more than 200 were killed and injured due to this earthquake. The causes of human damage are traced with newspaper articles and it is reveled that the most cases were happened at outdoors and a few was injured by direct building damage.
