This paper aims at clarifying the actual condition of builders’ acts for seismic retrofit of detached houses. For data collection, questionnaire survey into builders was exploited. The following results are obtained;
1) Motivated builders to deal with detached housing seismic retrofit are about twice number of the experienced builders.
2) Builders hardly have initiative to promote the seismic retrofit. Without home owners’ needs, builders hesitate about recommending for home owners to think of seismic retrofit.
3) Builders expect the government to support for promoting seismic retrofit, such as expanding subsidy and enlightening home owner.
