This study clarified the building regulation connected with the city planning by Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC). In the city planning by YCDC, Central Business District, Shwedagon Restricted Area and Heritage Conservation Area are regarded as the important bases, and are used as areas where set up the building regulation only for Yangon. Although former building regulation is focusing on height restriction and setback, the regulation of high-rise building is indispensable from now on. Engineering Department (Building) in YCDC, CQHP and HIC has played the important role. The regulation of high-rise building for Shwedagon Pagoda and Sule Pagoda as heritage buildings is functioning as the building regulation for maintaining the townscape where symbolizes the history and culture of Yangon.
