Abstract

In this paper, compression characteristics of glued laminated timber or cross laminated timber(CLT) subjected to triangular compression on the butt end are discussed. A test machine which is able to control bearing length and the stress distribution is designed, and total 126 specimens with parameters were tested. The results showed shear stress accompanied by friction affects the compression strength and plastic deformation capacity. The effect of rectangular notched hole is also discussed.
