On October 6. 2000, a great earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 hit the western part of Tottori prefecture, which was named The 2000 Western Tottori Prefecture Earthquake. The earthquake was characterized by the liquefaction occurred in the reclaimed lands around the Yumigahama peninsula. In Abe-Hikona housing estate, many houses were also damaged by the liquefaction. The authors investigated twice the relationship between the liquefaction and the damages to house foundation in the area after the earthquake. This paper presents the results of the investigations, including the depth contour of liquefied sandy soil layer, the statistics for the inclination of the houses and for the types of house foundation, and the correlation between them, etc.
