RhinoGit is a design methodology system that accumulates the trial-and-error process in architectural design as a shareable history, enabling mutual sharing and referencing among designers. In this study, we applied the concept of version control systems used in programming to architectural design and implemented it as an extension for Rhinoceros. A key feature of the system is its ability to visualize the design process by converting pre- and post-change differences into nodes, allowing for partial referencing. We conducted a design workshop with approximately 40 designers using RhinoGit. Each participant’s design process was represented as a graph, composed of nodes that record design-change differences and paths showing the relationships between these nodes. The final proposal was generated by integrating these individual graphs. While the resulting architecture is visualized as the adopted design, all aspects of the exploration process—regardless of whether they were ultimately selected—along with the referencing relationships among the various design histories, are preserved as records.
