Activated coke was manufactured from ligneous biomass pellets as the absorbents of hydrogen sulfide. In this research, the activated coke was manufactured by the simple heating treatment with using the fluidized bed reactor for the continuous production. The manufacturing condition was controlled by changing feeding rate of fluidized agent, feeding rate of ligneous pellet and heating time. The feeding rate of fluidized agent was changed 5 kg/h to 15 kg/h and residence time was controlled 25min to 40min by changing the feeding rate of fluidized agent. Nitrogen or steam gas was used as the fluidized gas, and zirconia sand was used as the fluidized agent. The specific gravity of zirconia was much higher than that of ligneous pellet, so the pellets migrate on the surface of zirconia sand. The manufactured activated coke quality and characteristics were evaluated by measuring the specific surface area, the particle density and adsorption capacity of hydrogen sulfide. The activated coke quality was also evaluated by comparing with the other activated coke produced with the fixed bed reactor or the commercial adsorbents. As a result, manufactured activated coke produced 923 K in temperature using steam was sufficient quality for the adsorption of hydrogen sulfide.
