NX Mixer®, based on an anchor impeller, have been developed for mixing in a wide viscosity range. To estimate the performances of NX Mixer®, solid-liquid mass transfer coefficient of solid particles kL was measured by the electric conductivity method. The effect of power consumption per unit volume on the solid-liquid mass transfer was similar to that of the other large impellers. The kL of NX Mixer® was larger than that of the other impellers when gas is sparged into the vessel. The gas-liquid mass transfer volumetric coefficient of NX Mixer® was smaller than that of Rushton turbine impeller, because the gas hold-up of NX Mixer® was smaller than that of Rushton turbine impeller. The observed mass transfer volumetric coefficient was correlated with the equation reported by Hiraoka et al. (2001).
