The aim of this paper is to ascertain qualities of life and culture capital that is the foundation of community affluence, based on case analysis of folkloric performing arts and traditional local cuisine. The analysis shows that 1) residents maintain life and culture capital by carefully observing the essential elements for handing down of tradition using their own judgment criteria, 2) there exists multiple collective memories per life and culture capital in a community to produce “time affluence”, and 3) various collective memories function as a motivation for carrying on the tradition and are developing life and culture capital.
