Further investigation was conducted on the caustic alkali soluble compounds contained in the essential oil of Virginia tobacco leaves. Benzaldehyde, p-anisaldehyde, o-hydroxyaceto-phenone and eugenol were isolated and identified. Several other compounds were also isolated and investigated.
