This paper reviews an universal aspect of traffic flows and granular flows. Through the analysis of one dimensional models of traffic and granular flows, we demonstrate the stability analysis of fluctuations, weekly non-linear analysis, the existence of convective instability in non periodic systems, f^<-4/3> law in power spectrum. In the last part of this paper, we introduce a micropolar fluid model to describe granular flow on a slope which may have different characteristics from that of traffic flows.
