The authors made a research on the origin of headaches from an entirely viewpoint different from the conventional way of thinking and concluded that this new finding is extremely reasonable. Horiguti discovered nasopharyngitis, an inflammation which has never been reported. This paper on the inflammation which is present in many people and is one of the most leading causes of headache. The authors selected at random patients who complained of headache and examined their nasopharynx and observed the following: 1. Most of the patients suffered from severe inflammation. 2. Headaches were cured after giving local treatment for inflammation; accordingly if the inflammation is cured the headache is cured. 3. The localization of the inflammation of the nasopharyngeal wall (nasal cavity) and the localization of the symptom of the headache correspond to each other. The authors concluded from these findings that most headaches are the result of referred pain from the inflammation of the nasopharyngeal (or nasal cavity) mucous membrane.
