In this study, we created a five-point evaluation measurement technique of basic physical fitness on the basis of data collected from 729 university judo athletes. The data included an eight-factor,10-item measurement of basic physical fitness variables considered important in competitive judo. Using these data, we obtained norm values, and created the evaluation meaurement scales separately for each weight division and variable.
Based on the findings from this study, we were able to conclude the following:
1. The data were normally distributed in the five point evaluation scale. We thus concluded that this scale could be used in a meaningful way to measure basic physical fitness among club members.
2. According to our comparison of the data among the various weight categories, it is possible to compare the interrelationships among the various different variables because of their standardization, as well as the special characteristics of each of the weight categories.
3. It is necessary to further examine the evaluation and measurement methodology of the Bass Dynamic Balance test, and the selection of other measurement items in the future.
