Abstract

Recently, Ceratocystis isolates are often found at plantation conducted areas of wilting-fast-growing trees in Southeast Asia. It has been also reported that this wilting damage causes Acacia disease in Vietnam. This study aims to reveal the relationships between forest-resource utilization and prevention approaches to the wilt damage of forest area through the interview survey with people who are engaged in Acacia forestry in central Vietnam. The results suggested that utilization of forest resources by people had prevented the expansion of wilt damage. In addition, it was pointed out that such functions would not be maintained for the future when monetary economy encroached further in their livelihood.
