Abstract

We constructed planning methodology of application of green infrastructure for formation of sound water environment especially in terms of recharge of groundwater and spring water, developing green infrastructure application scenarios and constructing groundwater simulation model appropriate in urban area. Target area is Kanda River Upper Basin in Tokyo. The results showed the possibility that application of green infrastructure policies, whose average infiltration amount in the target area is ca. 15.4 mm/h, can lead to recovery of sound water environment, such as rise of groundwater level more than 3 m in most plateau area and increase of spring water amount. In addition, we pointed out the possibility of designation of certain district “spring water recharge area”, in which green infrastructure policies can be applied intensively.
