Abstract

Necessity of a hydrogen energy society has recently recognized and installation of hydrogen stations have actually been increased. However, it has been found that local residents concern about safety of hydrogen and reported a local opposition due to its project development. Although appropriate information-providing is necessary to get agreement, but factor of getting agreement is not clear enough. This study aimed to clarify factors affecting on local residents’ attitude to hydrogen stations by conducting a questionnaire survey on local residents living near hydrogen stations. As a result, it was revealed that the necessity of hydrogen stations was likely to be related to the acceptance rather than the risk. It was also clarified that the knowledge of hydrogen did not necessarily contribute to enhancement of the acceptance.
