Biomembrane mainly consists of phospholipid bilayers which are surrounded by water. Water in phospholipids behaves differently than bulk water named hydration water (HW). Quasi-elastic neutron scattering (QENS) revealed that HW in 1-2 dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DMPE) phospholipids show different dynamics by comparing with that in 1-2 dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC) phospholipids. This finding suggests that HW can be correlated with the phospholipid in the biomembrane.
