d-5-Amino-α-santenic acid was prepared from d-isoketopinic acid as the starting material. The diaotization of this produced a dehydrosantenic acid, the dehydration product of the expected 5-hydroxy-α-santenic acid. The structure of the unsaturated acid was assumed as 5-dehydrosantenic acid.
