66-Deoxy-6-thio-D-glucose was prepared by hydrolysis of 6-deoxy-6-mercapto-6-Sacety1-1, 2, 3, 4-tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranose and 6-deoxy-6-mercapto-6-S-acety1-1, 2-O-isopropylidene-3, 5-benzylidene-α-D-glucofuranose which were synthesized from corresponding 6-p-toluenesulfonyl derivatives and potassium thiolacetone in boiling acetone.
