Abstract
The nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of twenty two morphine type derivatives were measured and their characteristic signals of the aromatic protons, N-methyl, acetoxylmethyl, the ethylenic protons in ring C, the protons alpha to hydroxyl, acetoxyl and C4-C5 ether bridge, and those of C9α, C10β, and C14β were assigned. The observed values of J5β, 6α or J5β, 6β and the chemical shifts of C6-acetoxylmethyl yielded information about the ring C conformation.
