Tazettine Chemistry. X. The Structure of Products obtained from O-Methyltazettine Methine Methosalts under the Hofmann Elimination Conditions.

Abstract

In continuation of our previous paper, the structures of compounds C, D, and E, obtained in minute yields during the Hofmann degradation of O-methyltazettine methine methohydroxide or in better yields by treatment of the methiodide with tert-butoxide under the analogous conditions, were shown to be represented by formulas (VI), (XIV), and (XV), respectively.
