Extracellular major polysaccharide of P. debaryanum is a glucan, [α]21D -28° (H2O). Results of periodate oxidation, Smith-degradation, and methylation studies showed that the glucan has a highly branched structure possessing mainly (1→3)-linkage and a small amount of (1→6)-linkage.
