Abstract
3-(1', 4'-Dioxopentyl)-3-methylcyclohexanone (V) was transformed to the compounds (VIa, VIb, and VII) under acidic conditions. 2-Isopropyl-4, 9-dimethyl-Δ2(3)-1, 5-octadione 5-ethylenethioketal (XIII) was synthesized from compounds (VIa and VIb). 6-Isopropyl-3-methyl-3-(5'-methylfuryl-2') cyclohexanone (XVIII) was obtained from compound (III).
