Abstract

Some cinnamoyl-β-phenethylamine derivatives, gingerols, diarylheptanoids and acyldopamines were tested for their inhibitory effects on the 5-lipoxygenase of RBL-1 cells. Compounds containing a catechol group together with a lipophilic group strongly inhibited 5-lipoxygenase. Significant inhibition was also observed in gingerols having guaiacol instead of catechol. Linoleoyl- and linolenoyl-dopamines were the strongest 5-lipoxygenase inhibitors.
