The antihemorrhagic principle of Sophora japaonica L. was isolated from the aqueous extract of dried buds by partition and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, and identified as quercetin [2- (3, 4- dihydroxyphenyl) -3, 5, 7 -trihydroxy-4H- 1-benzopyran-4- one].
