Half V-shaped switching FLC mode is a candidate for advanced liquid crystal displays targeting the application for televisions, because of its fast response and wide viewing angle. This mode requires a cooling process in which an electric field is applied to obtain uniform alignment of FLC. In this paper, we investigate the relation between the alignment of half-V-shaped switching FLC and the cooling process. Good alignment of FLC was obtained by applying non-DC electric field during cooling process.
