We demonstrate spatial frequency selective reconstruction (SFSR) of two-dimensional optical images by using functionalized mesogenic composites possessing high-performance orientational photorefractivities. In the research field of the real-time holography, using the photorefractive mesogenic composites SFSR is proposed for the fascinate optical image processing. The two-dimensional optical image was Fourier transformed by a lens and a part of spatial frequency was interfered with the reference beam in the Raman-Nath regime. We calculated the expected reconstructed images and obtained good agreement between the observed images and theoretical expectation.
